DIRECTOR

Nyshia Cook is the owner and director of NC Music Center, Charlotte's premier music school that offers top notch music instruction for a variety of instruments at all levels from Beginner to Professional. She is an energetic piano teacher, voice teacher/coach and recital Instructor and an accomplished pianist and singer herself. She has participated in many musical theater projects, Operas, and Church Choirs. She maintains professional memberships to Piano Teachers Guild, Charlotte Piano Teacher Forum, National Federation of Music and NATS. Nyshia cultivated her skills and training by studying as a part of the music program at UNCC. She continues training by taking courses and workshops at some of the most prestigious schools throughout the country Berklee Music School, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Private Instruction from nationally known master Instructors in addition, assisting students with audition and competition preparation in pageants, studio recording sessions and talent shows. She is a well sought after judge for many talent competitions, pageants, and solicited by local recording studios as a vocal coach. Her former students have performed in concerts and on tour with many celebrities such as Shirley Creaser, Fantasia, and Jodeci just to name a few. She has also had many students go on to accompany for church, audition for Broadway, local talent shows, professional recording studio work, performing in many state festivals and performing the National Anthem at many local events . PEEP Luncheon, a scholarship program designed to assist youth ages 15-25 in career planning, invited Nyshia Cook as a guest in 2011. Nyshia plans to attend PEEP Luncheon again in the Spring of 2012. In 2011 Piano Passion (now known as NC Music Center) received a prestigious honor of 2011 Best of Charlotte in the Fine Art Schools Award by U.S. Commerce Association.
